Culture mark Unity College’s annual meet

Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): Cultural performances and depictions marked the weeklong annual programme of the Unity College in Dimapur. The event concluded on Dec. 16.
The annual programme convincing with a sports event was organised to ‘promote the diverse Naga culture and traditions among the students.’
During the programme, Team Vagator, BA 4th semester, was declared the overall champion of the event.
The college organised a singing programme called ‘Unity Voice Hunt Season III.’ Jentysangla Changkiri was declared the winner, followed by Wikidon who took the runner-up prize. Winners were awarded with cash prizes and a music track record deal by Trance Effect, a collaboration which will be released in 2018.
The event also saw the official release of a track recorded in collaboration with the band Avancer.
The judges of the Voice Hunt were Bethel Tsuzu, director of Mountain Music Academy; Toshimeren, music instructor at Hope Academy; and Thunglamo Ngullie, vocal instructor at Hope Centre for Excellence.
The music event was followed by a food festival, besides various cultural presentations and indigenous games. The programme also hosted a ‘warrior dance’ by a Chang cultural troupe; dance performances including from the Marwari and the Kuki, and Sumi folk songs. An on-spot fire-making, greased bamboo pole-climbing and spear-kick competitions were also conducted.
