Dimapur, Feb.16: The NSCN (IM) has noted the creation of seven districts in Manipur by the government of Manipur as a decision with “colonial design” and has called it “a naked intrusion upon the right of the Nagas.”
The group’s MIP issued a press release on Thursday stating that the organisation “cannot and will not sit on the fence when the territories of the Nagas are being grabbed by their neighbors through the instrument of their colonial laws.”
“The reality is that ours is a case of invasion and occupation of Nagalim by India and Burma, not law and order problem or domestic problem of the two countries. The Nagas have been resisting against the territorial, cultural and political imperialism of the aggressor states for about eight decades with determination and faith in the Lord,” the press release stated.
The NSCN expressed strong opposition to “any political step of the neighbours that attempts to seize our territories big or small.” The NSCN stated to “fight against intruders in the east, in the west, in the north and south in defense of Naga territories.”The creation of seven districts in Manipur “by the communal government of Ibobi singh, curving out of Naga territories with colonial design is a naked intrusion upon the right of the Nagas,” the press release asserted. “ It is an attempt to annex our land in the guise of new districts. NSCN cannot and will not sit on the fence when the territories of the Nagas are being grabbed by their neighbors through the instrument of their colonial laws. Ibobi government is the culprit, not the Naga people.”
The creation of seven new districts “with colonial motive,” the NSCN (IM) stated, “is the root cause of the problem, not the economic blockade launched by the Nagas in protest against the arbitrary creation of the districts. The crux of the problem is Ibobi government. “
