Council clarifies reported assault of Survival Nagaland member

Dimapur, August 24: The Chungtiayimsen Village Council, in Mokokchung district, has issued a statement stating to clarify the reported assault of a member of an anti-illegal immigrant organization, the Survival Nagaland, in connection with the alleged presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the area.
In said regard, the village council of Chungtiayirnsen summoned one Talisunep Longkumer of Lirmen village on August 22 “as the village council deemed it necessary to look into the security of the area and the whole matter was deliberated in the village panchayat.”“Mr. Talisunep Longkumer admitted on his own will, that he had furnished the authorities with wrong information and that there was no proof that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants were residing in the concerned area, and that the allegations were false and baseless,” the press release stated.
“On realization of the problems caused to the villagers due to these false reports, Mr. Talisunep Longkumer apologized before the village council and the matter has been settled peacefully between the two parties and dealt with according to the customary laws of the village council for defaming the reputation of the village,” it added.
