Community groups celebrate Father’s Day

Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): Churches and community groups in Nagaland celebrated fathers on Father’s Day on Sunday. They issued separate press releases offering updates about the events they conducted.

St. Xavier Catholic Church
St. Xavier Catholic Church at Kidima in Kohima issued a press release on Sunday informing to have celebrated ‘Holy Trinity called Father, Son and Holy Spirit and Fathers’ Day.’ Reverend Father Siby John, parish priest, was the main celebrant on June 16 in the premises of the church, the updates stated.

Fr Siby John asked the faithful to remember God the Father and be more responsible and good father for the family. He urged them to be courageous, firm and be spiritual guides and to live exemplary lives.

These are the moral duty for the father in the family, the parish priest was quoted as having said at the event.
Children, mothers and Franciscan Sisters of Saint Mary of the Angels also joined the liturgical feast of Holy Trinity and Father’s Day celebration with the Eucharist followed by a meal, the updates added.

Tribal Old Age Home
Members of the Tribal Old Age Home and Day Care Centre celebrated Father’s Day with the theme ‘Heart of the father,’ updates stated on Sunday. Moasenla Aier was the speaker of the event, the updates stated. Music, prayers and presentations for the fathers marked the event, the updates informed.

The Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church at Aizuto in Zunheboto district conducted a Father’s Day programme on Sunday in the church.

Women’s leader Tovini Awomi spoke about the Word of God at the event, a press release from the organisers stated in a note that was issued to the media on Sunday. She urged fathers to stand strong and to lead forth their family. She urged them to accept Jesus Christ as their saviour to be a good father and to lead the family forward, the updates stated.

Later, the note stated, prayers were said for the fathers and special gifts distributed to them.
“The church was overfilled with more than 3500 people attending the special service,” the updates stated.
