Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has lauded decision of the State cabinet on April 25 to revoke recognition of Rongmei tribe.
CNTC Media Cell today said the Rongmei tribe recognition issue, which has created a lot of uproar in the State by the Nagas of Nagaland, has now been finally understood by the State cabinet on the future ramifications and consequences of granting indigenous tribe status from other states. CNTC praised the wisdom of the State chief minister Dr. Shurhozelie Leizietsu, who with his able leadership, seasoned statesmanship and far-sightedness, has taken a very prudent action judiciously in revoking the beleaguered decision that ‘brought lot of discord and dissension from the civil societies of the State.’
CNTC further urged to prove the antecedent of 1313 Rongmei inhabitants with the right standard procedures in order to award the indigenous status so that the decision taken will benefit the genuine indigenous inhabitants. CNTC hoped that Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu would work on the other contentious issues of Nagas of Nagaland without any fear or favour.
