Dimapur, Sep 12 (EMN): As preparatory to upcoming colloquium on ‘Road connectivity in Nagaland,’ a meeting of all stakeholders associated with road construction was held in the CMO’s conference hall, Civil Secretariat, on September 11.
A press release from the CMO stated that resource persons from the department of Roads & Bridges, PWD (NH), BRO, Mechanical Engineering and other private players made their respective slide shows on the status, length and costs of ongoing projects in the State. Subjects on inter-state connectivity, central fund, DoNER, NABARD and NEC schemes, PMGSY projects, four-laning, bypass road construction, road safety work, annual plans etc were delved in details.
During the discussion, chief minister, TR Zeliang, encouraged the road builders to cooperate with the government saying it is committed to good governance, transparency, accountability and all-round development. He said such frequent meetings of stakeholders have evolved a common platform where all could discuss on issues related to road development and create better understanding.
He informed that it is not only the BRO that is totally engaged in road construction in Nagaland today but many other national private players are also involved with major chunks of projects which the common people seldom knew.
The much-talked about seminar scheduled in the last week of this month is expected to be attended by different sections of civil societies besides government departments.
