CM condoles Wizabo’s demise

Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): Former Deputy Commissioner of Phek and Director of Food and Civil Supplies, R Wizabo Zeliang passed away on October 18 at Eden Hospital, Dimapur, following prolonged illness.
In a condolence message to Tingkholhing, wife of Wizabo Zeliang, State Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, has described him as prominent figure, a man dedicated to the service of the society. Zeliang said his immense contributions as a fair, efficient and charismatic bureaucrat and believer will ever be remembered.
Zeliang lamented that the passing away of charismatic leader is a loss to the Zeliangrong community in particular and the Nagas in general.
Family sources said R Wizabo Zeliang served the Zeliangrong Students’ Union as general secretary after which he contested the State election in 1969. In June 1972, he got through NPSC and joined as Circle Officer. He had served as administrative officer in different districts of the State including Deputy Commissioner of Phek. In 2002, he took voluntary retirement while he was Director of Food and Civil Supplies to contest election again.
From January 16, 1994, he served as deacon cum advisor at Liangmai Baptist Church, Dimapur, and as head deacon from 2009 till his death.
Chief minister has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty God to grant them strength and comfort to bear with the loss and for the departed soul to rest in peace.
