Classic Cup: Dominic Ngouri fires Pochury team to semis

Kohima, Nov. 14 (EMN): Kuluopfu FC Pochury’s captain Dominic Ngouri scored a hat-trick as they thrashed Phezoucha Youth Organisation 6-0 to enter the semi-finals of the ongoing 24th Classic Cup here at the Kohima local ground on Wed. Nov. 14.

Ngouri’s hat-trick, Vizhisie’s brace, and a goal from Jimuhie completed the rout for Pochury team during the encounter.

Playing the third quarter-final match of the tournament Phezoucha team who earlier defeated Kohima Eagles in their last match failed to make much impression throughout the match.

While Pochury team who came through the likes of penalty shootout in their first match and defeated Tiema-Khe in their pre-quarterfinal round improved their play and dominated the proceeding to humiliate the opponent team by six goals to nil.

In the match, Pochury team opened the account through their skipper Ngouri set up by Atsiatho in the 10th minute. He went on to score his second in the 33rd minute assisted by Zhivutho in the 33rd minute.

There was no stopping from Pochury team as Jimuhie got his name in the score sheet set up by playmaker Zhivutho in the 38th minute to make it 3-0 in the first half.

Phezoucha team got off a better start in the second half but their lackluster finishing from their forwards end hampered the game with their blunt attacks.

Pochury took control of the game when a penalty was awarded in the 72th minute for a handball inside the area. The captain took the penalty and converted the goal to add his third goal for the team. .

Pochury forward Vizhisie got two successive goals from defensive lapses in the 74th and 80th minute to finish the game.

With the win, Pochury team will now face the winner of the fourth semi-final match to be played between United VNS Dimapur and Chedema VYO in the second semi-final match on Nov. 17.
