Classic Cup: Brace for Yhunshalo and Vekhruto as Deja Vu Edition thrash KBC 5-0

Kohima, Nov. 7 (EMN): Yhunshalo Kemp and Vekhruto Resu scored two goals each as Deja Vu Edition FC turned in style to beat Kohima Bible College 5-0 in their pre-quarterfinal match here at the Kohima local ground on Wed. Nov. 7.

In the first half, Deja Vu Edition failed to breach the defensive line despite their numerous attacks, as KBC managed to defend in the first half to end in a goalless draw in the first half.

The best chance came for Deja Vu when Yhanshalo hit the crossbar in the 25th minute.

Deja Vu team finally scored from a set-piece in the second half as midfielder Aloumei’s corner kick found Yhanshalo inside the box and he headed home the ball over the keeper in the 32nd minute.

While Vekhruto doubled the lead from a defensive error as he thumped the goal from a close range assisted by Tingnyek Konyak in the 43rd minute.

There was no stopping for Deja Vu goalkeeper Yanger set up Khangadar to score in the 51st minute as he latches a long through ball and their forward managed to dribble past the defender and flicked the ball on top of the goalkeeper into the empty net to make it 3-0.

Yhanshalo then scored a header again in the 53rd minute and in the injury added time; Vekhruto scored a long range kick outside the area to finish the game 5-0.

While in the second match, Efurang Zeliang scored two goals in the second half for Naga Jaguars FC to seal a 3-0 victory over Samaritan in the encounter to enter the last eight.

Kelvin Kappo opened scoring in the 27th minute, while Efurang Zeliang struck twice in the 50th and 55th minute for Naga Jaguars. Samaritan FC was unlucky not to score in the match as they were knocked out of the tournament without finding the back of the net.

Up next, Deja Vu Edition FC will play against Naga Jaguars FC in the quarter-final round on Nov. 12.
