Launching the Kohima District revamped website
Zale Neikha launching Kohima district’s revamped website in the DC’s conference hall on Sep. 15.

Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): The chairman of the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Zale Neikha, on Sep. 15 launched the Kohima district revamped website in presence of Advisor for Rural Development Dr. Nicky Kire; Advisor for Vety. R Khing, and MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro during the DPDB meeting held at the DC’s conference hall in Kohima.

Neikha, who is also the advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, said that with the launching of the website all information of the district can be accessed under one window. He therefore requested all the head of offices in the district to provide the latest information of their respective departments and also to give feedbacks to improve the district website in future.

Deputy Commissioner Kohima Rajeash Soundararajan, said the district website has been updated to serve the purpose of its existence to the public with more meaningful and resourceful in regard to the information of the district. He mentioned that the website was opened long time ago; however, the website has not been updated for many years; therefore, he said the idea of reviving the website with the latest updates information of the departments has been initiated.

While acknowledging heads of the departments for sharing the latest information regarding their departments, he also informed those departments yet to provide to do so.

Technical director and district informatics officer, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, GoI, NIC, J G Lorin Rengma the revamped website, kohima.nic.in base on S3WaaS (Secure, Scalable and Sugamya Website as a Service) can be accessed through the URL https://kohima.nic.in.

Lorin said that the districts are the key entities in the government structure where actual execution of schemes and programmes take place and district level websites is an implicit cyber space and an important link between the administration and citizens.

S3WaaS has been envisaged to bridge this gap and built with an objective to empower the district administration to generate, configure, deploy and manage secure, scalable and accessible websites for publishing district specific information and services without much effort and technical knowhow, he informed.

The website has enhanced features like responsive design which can be accessed through any internet device such as smartphones, tablets, desktop PC and other devices. It is also GIGW (Guidelines for Indian Government Websites) complaint with robust security standards. Visually impaired persons can also access the website by installing screen reader device on the system. Special feature has been added for colour blind users where they can change the contrast of the website for easy access. Also, the font size of the website can be enlarged or decreased according to one’s preference.

Loring added that the website have been incorporated with information about Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Administrative Set-up, schemes, helpline numbers and others. Data on the website will be regularly updated and new features will be added to provide effective G2C services to the citizen.
