Dimapur, July 6

Celebrating the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang’s youth Sunday on July 5, the Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo’s (church) youth ministry (DABAYM) released a phone directory with names and details of self-employed youngsters.
The list consists of musicians, photographers, beauticians, tailors, tutors, singers, caterers, painters, graphic designers, electricians, stylists, fashion designers, and many other professionals.
This initiative was undertaken with the theme “Motivational living, utility service” to promote dignity of labor and entrepreneurship. Elaborating on it, youth director of the DABAYM, Toshi Longkumer said there were many youths who have undergone courses in various professional areas but do not get oppportunities. Seeing the need to intervene, the youth ministry brought about the directory to encourage youngsters, he said.
The youth leader also appealed to parents and elders of the community to support the upcoming entrepreneurs by utilizing them. “…if we do not support them then they will have a very bleak future.”
This is not the first time that the DABAYM has initiated steps to promote young entrepreneurs. Earlier in the month of May, a conference on the theme “Fostering economic opportunities for building peaceful society through promoting dignity of labour and entrepreneurial skills” was conducted. The previous year too, in the month of April, an “entrepreneurs’ meet” was conducted by the church.
