Dimapur, Nov. 03 (EMN): Certainly Friday was a day of pride for those associated with Christian Higher Secondary School (CHSS) Dimapur and particularly for the alumni which turned out to be a solemn occasion for them to reminisce as the school commemorated the its 50th anniversary on Nov. 3.
The school in the last 50 years has produced more than 100 state toppers with 10000 alumni members to its credit, stated the Principal S. Moatemsu Walling in his welcome address. It currently has 100 teaching and non-teaching staffs and more than 3000 students. The Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner Temjen Toy, IAS who graced the 50th anniversary of the school as the chief guest conveyed that school has laid a strong and firm foundation and it is a matter of joy that the school has done exceedingly well in producing good results. He took the opportunity of the school’s celebration of fifty successful years to exhort that it is time institutions have to prioritise to build schools over school buildings.
It is the inherent duty of the school to build the students into a good person and then a successful person, and look beyond textbook and exams as we prepare for the future, asserted the bureaucrat.
Drawing attention on the negativity among the people which in turn has given room for unconstructiveness in the society, he advised it was time that we change ourselves to change this mentality and respect the ‘rule of law’. He thereupon challenged the gathering to develop positivity.
Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) general secretary Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho in his note as the guest of honour lauded the CHSS family for their contribution towards the school because of which, the school has the reason to commemorate the 50th anniversary.
“We are creating history for generations to come and the gathering today itself is a positive history we are creating”, resonated the Reverend.
CHSS has come a long way impacting the society positively by contributing to be the most judicious institution utilising working days creating room for spiritual and educational awakening, extolled the guest of honour.
Though the past has been tiresome, it has been a glorious past for which the school and those associated with the school can be proud of the past and present, remarked the Reverend and commended that the CHSS history will not end with the celebration of 50 years but continue to impact the society.
The alumni of CHSS also announced that its association which was formed in 2016 will be constructing a children’s playground inside the school campus in commemoration of the 50 years of the school.
