Chingshah stars as MTYC rout Ablaze FC to enter last 16

Chingshah Payau’s triple anchored MT Youth Club, Kohima to the pre-quarters of the ongoing 16th NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy held at Kohima Local Ground.
MT Youth Club downed Ablaze FC, Kohima 5-0 as Chingshah became the ninth player to score a hat-trick in this year’s edition.
Playing the first match of the day, MT Youth Club had the upper hand in the entire proceedings of the match. Into the first five minutes, MT Youth Club took the lead in the 4th minute through Etoka Achumi. Enos Ayemi joined the celebration as he delivered the second goal for his team in the 18th minute.The third goal for MT Youth came quickly as hat-trick scorer Chingshah found the net in the 21st minute. Just before the interval, Chingshah took the score line to 4-0 as he again got past the keeper in the 31st minute.
Trailing four behind, the Ablaze FC entered the second half with greater zeal and spirit, but only to be left with more embarrassment as Chingshah went on to score his hat-trick goal in the 41st minute. Nightmarish for the Ablaze FC players as MT Youth Club sailed to the last 16 with ease.
Apart from the convincing win, MT Youth Club will also have more reasons to celebrate as Chingshah’s hat-trick will immensely boost their confidence when they play the next match.
In the second match, Senapati FC, Manipur journeyed to the last 16 after a narrow victory against Kigwema Students’ Union (KSU).
The visiting team from Manipur took an early lead in the 3rd minute through Emmanuel T, who later went on to score his second goal in the 46th minute.
KSU’s effort to fight back was rewarded as Shürhotolie Pfükha scored lately in the 60th minute. The final minutes witnessed exciting football as both teams kept up the pressure to the opponent’s defence line.
The final minutes witnessed aggressive play from both the teams, however, KSU’s effort to push for the much needed equalizer didn’t end well.
KSU players R. Alex was penalized with a yellow card in the 61st minute, followed by Kuzole Sale in the 70 minute. With the victory, Senapati FC, Manipur will next play against MT Youth Club, Kohima on 8th October.
