Children’s Day celebrated across Nagaland

Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): Along with the rest of the country, Children’s Day was celebrated in different parts of the state on Nov. 14.
MGMHSS, Dimapur: Marking the occasion, a variety of cultural activities were presented by the students from nursery to higher secondary classes of the MGM Hr Sec. School. The principal of the school, Fr. Dr. PS. Varghese, in his keynote address, enlightened the students ,teachers and parents about the history and importance of this day.

He reminded the gathering that “growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. One has to keep the qualities of child when he grows physically. Children are pure in heart, that has to keep throughout the life”.
The teachers also performed a variety of special programmes for the children and entertained the students. 8 toppers who secured performed well at the second term examination were felicitated with Late KV. Ponnan (founder member of the school) Meritorious Scholarship, organized by MGOS Church and St. Thomas mission society.

Assam Rifles: The Phek battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) also participated in celebrating ‘Children’s Day’ with the students of Bishop Abraham Memorial School, Phek on Nov. 14.
The Officiating Commandant delivered a speech on the occasion and motivated the students to work hard to excel in life.
NIIT, Dimapur: NIIT Dimapur celebrated children’s day with its students by giving them gifts on Wednesday. Santoshi Sutradhar, daughter of Shambhu and Kutu Sutradhar, was awarded a free course on MS Office as she had won the NIIT contest consecutively 3 times in the below 18 years category.

NIIT Dimapur Centre is conducting a contest in the Sunday post for the past 18 years wherein the winners for under and above 18 years are given Rs.150 as a cash award every week. Sutradhar is studying in class XI (commerce) in Pranabanada Women’s college and aspires to become a Chartered Accountant (CA).

NSLSA: The Nagaland state legal services authorities (NSLSA) celebrated ‘Children’s Day’ by conducting placard rallies with the legal literacy club members in line with NALSA Child Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection Scheme, 2018.

The respective district legal services authority (DLSA) of each district conducted the activities. In Kiphire Children’s day was observed in govt. middle school Station B. Whereas in Wokha, Dimapur, Zunheboto, Kohima, Phek, Peren and Tuensang the DLSA conducted a rally and placard competition. In Mon the district authorities observed the day with Faith Fellowship Orphanage Home.

In Mokokchung, the Children’s Day was observed by conducting a placard competition. The Longleng District Authorities celebrated Children’s Day with Phom Lemphong Hostel Mission Centre.
