Child protection group donates ‘Cradle of hope’

Dimapur, Dec. 18 (EMN): Child protection services Nagaland under the department of social welfare distributed cradles billed as ‘Cradle of hope’ to the offices of commissioner of police and chief medical officer, Dimapur.

A press release issued by the programme manager of state child protection society, Raitale Zeliang, stated that those cradles would be placed at various police stations, primary health centres (PHCs), community health centres (CHCs) and hospitals in Dimapur district.
‘Cradle of hope’ aims at providing viable option to newborn abandoned/ unwanted babies and also give the mother to make responsible decision- a decision that may save a live.

It may be noted here that on November 19, Noke Wangnao, advisor of social welfare department, launched the ‘Cradle of hope’ during Child Rights Week 2018. ‘Cradle of hope’ was launched in Dimapur district as a pilot project under innovative intervention programme under child protection services scheme.

The statement added that around 90 cradles would be placed at strategic key points in and around Dimapur to ensure that no babies are dumped in dustbins, jungles etc.
