Chessore public celebrate Tsungkam Neo festival

Dimapur, Jan. 18 (EMN): Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) celebrated Tsungkam Neo (winter festival) on the theme ‘Preserving and expounding the culture’ with Francis Yimso, principal of Saint Xavier’s College, Jalukie, as the chief guest and the general secretary of SKK Hutishe Sema as special guest. About 2500 delegates from all the Chessore area villages as well the neighbouring Sumi villages witnessed the celebration.
The guests were received by Huker cultural troupe. The programme was chaired by CTSU president R Akum, while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Miss Chilula and the welcome address was delivered by CAPF president A Akhum.
The guests were felicitated by the festival organising committee convenor H Mukam Tsungkam with Yimchunger shawl Rungkhim (warrior shawl) and the message from Toshi Wungtung, ENPO advisor, on the significance of day was read by CAPF general secretary Kiumukam.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest stressed on the importance of culture and urged the gathering to uphold ethics for betterment of the society. The special guest Hutishe Sema has acknowledged the goodwill gesture and urged to renew the age long Yimchunger and Sumi ancestral relationship.
YAA president Yansomong and YTC general secretary Tsuyibah have expressed gratitude to SKK officials for their presence.
YAA vice president and advisor CAPF Keyoungkhum K delivered the vote of thanks. He has particularly thanked the SKK officials and the chief guest for the presence at the celebration.
The programme concluded with the benediction from Fr. Loyola Antony, principal of SCS, followed by presentation of short play on Tsungkam Neo by Chessore village cultural troupe.
