Dimapur, Feb. 9 (EMN): Angami wrestler Kezhavizo Thevo, who made history by becoming champion of the first Chakhesang Open Wrestling 2019, has received appreciation from the Chedema Village Youth Organisation (CVYO).
The first Chakhesang Open Wrestling organised by Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) concluded at Pfutsero Sports Complex, Phek district on Feb. 8.
Thevo, who hails from Chedema village under Kohima district, defeated Mudotu Veswuh of Suthozu Basa village under Phek district, and emerged as the first champion of the wrestling competition.
Lauding Thevo for creating history, the CVYO in a statement issued by its president Visakhotuo Tsira and General Secretary Kekhriengulie Keyho, said his winning the open wrestling championship had brought laurels for the Chedema village in particular and the Angamis in general.
The statement also said his historic win would boost the morale of young wrestlers and hope that he would win more such titles in future tournaments.
