Chasing the future: Nagaland’s legs still busy in IT marathon

Apparently, the marathon took at least a week to cross the finish line. The number of Information technology service groups, community organizations, and government departments informing Nagaland’s local media of having run the Digital India Week-themed race continues to mount.
Organized mainly by the state’s department of Information Technology with local services or community organizations, the marathons are being run by students and youths from across the state from Mon to Kohima district.
In Tuensang district, the department of Information Technology & Communications collaborated with the district’s administration to organize a marathon in Tuensang town on July 7 to India Digital Week. 65 males and 37 females from various wards of Tuensang town ran in the marathon.Thungti Moba Chang from 3rd NAP Sector was placed in the first position, Napam Changshou Chang from Pulonyu sector and Yongkhong Chang were placed second and third place respectively, in the men’s category.
Sentinaro from Polunyu sector was placed in first position, Jemei from Bazaar-C sector and Sejang from Bazaar-C lifted the second and third positions in the women’s category respectively. Consolation prizes were also given to ten female and male participants.
Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang flagged off the men’s groups of runners while the Superintendent of Police of Tuensang flagged off the women’s category of runners. The prize distribution ceremony was held in the Parade ground of the town. “eDistrict Manager” of IT&C for Tuensang Warlongum Yimchunger addressed the gathering. Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang Alemjongshi gave away the prizes for the men while superintendent of Tuensang police Vikram Ezung gave away the prizes for the women winners.
Also, to sensitize the notion about Digital India Week to volunteers of the Village Development Block, the District Rural Development Agency conducted a meeting in Tuensang on the 7th. The meeting was attended by block development officers, and representatives of village development agencies.
The main speaker of the meeting was District information Officer of Tuensang, Avi Khehie. He emphasized on the importance of the Information Technology in the current world. He spoke about the efficiency of the internet and usage of technologies in official works and also encouraged the gathering to adapt to the information developments. The holistic importance of the information technology can save time, resources, man power and economy, he said and shared all the importance and necessity of the information technologies in recent scenario.
Also, project director of the DRDA, Chubawati Chang, appreciated the central government for establishing many projects and schemes which is useful for the denizens. He spoke on how useful it would be if the usage of the information and technologies can reach the village levels so that the work functioning of the DRDA department in particular will improve.
Peren chases Tuensang…apparently
With Tuensang having ran ahead of it, Peren isn’t waiting for now one either. Joining with the rest of the country, Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Peter Lichamo, flagged off the marathon on July 6 at the local ground of Peren town. He encouraged the participants to ‘run towards technological advancement through the marathon’.
In the boys’ category Ikumlung, Lungpetheing, and Kenuti, won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. In the girls’ category Zierangyi, Isolator, and Keheibale finished in the top three positions in that order.
