Chakhesang tribe resolves to uphold clean elections

Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): Various political parties along with the Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) comprising other frontal organisations and different church denominations have decided to uphold clean elections as initiated by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).
The decision to this effect was taken at a joint meeting consisting CCEM along with Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO), other frontal organisations, different church denominations and different political parties such as NPF, INC, NC, BJP, UNDP of Phek district on June 27 in the conference hall of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC).

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Kuzhopoyo Tunyi, Convener CCEM, who also read out the 18 points of CCEM guidelines to the party leaders. Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, Executive Secretary CBCC, led the devotion.
Presidents of different political parties and senior leaders spoke during the meeting and strongly support the CCEM guidelines and to go ahead with the movement for a positive transformation.
NPCC president and former finance minister, K Therie; Kekhwengulo Lea, president CPO; Vapramu Demo, and Theja Therie also spoke during the meeting and delivered strong messages in support to the CCEM guidelines. They also requested the CCEM and church leaders to take the responsibility to bring change as church plays important role in changing politics. Suggestions were given to the church to be more practical and impart to the believers on the effects of money during elections. They further requested the CCEM to activate clean election ideas and bring clean electoral roll to ensure clean elections.
Leaders from different political parties were also requested to choose their leaders wisely and to stop media wars, which could affect individuals and the community as a whole.
In the end, CCEM Convenor asked all the participants to raise hands as a sign of their support toward clean election movement, which was received with positive response.
In conclusion, all the political parties unanimously agreed to work for a better future and to uphold the CCEM and the NBCC guidelines. Rev. Zupelhi Mero, prayed for the blessings.
