Chakhesang students conduct general session

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): The Kohima Chakhesang Students’ Union (KCSU) conducted its 56th general session and freshmen conclave on Sep. 23 in Kohima town. The event was conducted with the theme “excel for a cause.’’ Kevileno Epao, OSD for Planning & Coordination of the Evaluation department was the guest speaker; Vezuhu Keyho, principal of Capital College of Higher Education was the “session speaker,” a press release from the organisers stated on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Epao told the students to “introspect” as it will decide their future. Further she urged the students to be “fruitful and positively impact their family and the society in working towards excellence.”

Talking about the “attributes of success”, the “guest speaker” asked the students to prioritize their studies “amidst all disturbances by professionalizing their time and to work for a cause through discipline. Reasoning on the benefits of reading, she advises the students to cultivate the habit as it expands imagination and our horizons of thoughts.”

Also, emphasizing on what the press release called the “value of being optimistic”, she urged the students to learn to accept challenges in life as they make a person realize the capabilities of a person and to be receptive.

‘While regretting the lack of consistency among students and the people in general, Epao also talked about the importance of hard work and asserted that there was no substitute,” the press release stated. She was quoted as having advised the students to learn to say ‘no’ to whatever would ‘let down a person from pursuing their aspiration.’ She called upon the students to respect diversity and be united.

Also, the president of Chakhesang Hoho of Kohima, Theja Therieh exhorted the gathering to be responsible citizens and advised the students not to be mere followers but leaders. According to the press release, he told the students not to ‘polarize or communalize the society while maintaining one’s identity and also urges the students to set goal and pursue with full focus. Further, he challenges to be collectively responsible and be an agent of change.’

In the second part of the day, principal of Capital of Higher Education Vezuhu Keyho told the students that “life in today’s world has become so expensive and advises the students not to misuse the trust of their parents nor create parents-students relationship deficit.” While regretting the “menace of corruption in the society” and urged the students to ‘retrospect oneself to do away with the averse state of a society.’

Further the press release stated that Keyho spoke about ‘work attitude.’ It determines altitude, the press release stated. Dedication, sincerity and commitment are vital for a successful life and above all depending on God, the press release added.
