Case Premier League: Nizams’ monopoly at top of the table ends

Dimapur, May 13 (EMN): Teammate edged past Nizams FC 3-2 at the end of Week 6 of the Case Premier League at Police Ground, Chumukedima on May 12. Tsujkem of Teammate opened the scoring from six yards out through an assist from Aosanen. He then added to his tally by converting a cross from Tali.

Nizams FC reduced the lead through a brilliant individual play by Akato who curled the ball with the outside of his right boot into the net. Captain Moatemjen increased the tally after an error from the Nizams defence. After the break, Nizams FC continued to press and but missed out on lots of chances. Temsu tapped in after a pinpoint pass from Sopei. With that win, Teammate are third with 11 points.

Case FC drew with Super Strikers to take their tally to 10 points. Case FC, who needed a win to confirm their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages, were hampered by the draw. Case FC missed many chances in the first half.  Gaibi of Case FC scored to take the lead in the 20th minute. Right after the break, Inaka levelled the score. With the draw, Super Stokers registered their first point of the season; and Case FC either needs to win or draw their next match to qualify.

In the other match, G Sports outclassed Stafac 3-0 via a hat-trick from Imliyanger. Imli opened the account within the first five minutes. G Sports continued to dominate proceedings. Imli beat the offside trap to tap in the second goal. Just before the break, he got his third goal to complete the rout.

Trinity maintained its winning momentum by blanking Natak FC 2-0. It was a must-win match for Natak FC to qualify for the knockout stages however they could not capitalise on their good start. Lipok volleyed in at the 20th minute to take the lead. Top-scorer Viketo nearly levelled for Natak FC as he shot past the keeper only to hit the framework. Trinity increased their tally after Lipok was tripped inside the D box towards the dying minutes of the second half. Imtiyanger calmly converted the penalty. With that win, Trinity are now level with Nizams FC at the top of the table.Point Table
