Dimapur, March 15: With an aim to provide a platform for students, parents and teachers to involve themselves in authentic learning, Dimapur-based youth-led NGO, Can Youth (CY) on Friday launched a learning aid magazine, SPATIAL at District Education Officer’s (DEO) office.

Speaking at the launch function, Chief Functionary (CY), Jenpu Rongmei said that Project SPATIAL was launched to build competency for the students through “depth of self understanding and also to fill the gap of relationship between teachers, students and parents for healthy relationship through life skill-based education.”

Rongmei pointed that education system has completely changed today. “The schools impart more importance on marks and pressure the students to achieve good results, irrespective of whether one learns or not,” he said. However, he believed that certain life skills should be imparted as a process in the educational system, “rather than making it as a subject.”

R. Amongla Jamir (DEO), who launched the magazine, acknowledged Can Youth for its initiatives to spread the message it wants to convey, and maintained that their active participation and results have encouraged her to dedicate more and perform her duty in a more prominent way.

Jamir told the gathering that the DEO’s office is trying its best to improve the productivity of government schools and encouraged Can Youth to approach the parents, teachers and students more to uplift the spirits as a whole.

The programme was chaired by secretary (CY) Kivitoli Chishi and invocation offered by governing body (CY), Zhove.
