Cadets motivated to join armed forces

Dimapur, May 24 (EMN): 3 Corps chief of staff and chairman local board of administration (LBA) of Sainik School Punglwa, Maj. Gen. Atanu K Pattaniak has motivated the students to study hard so as to qualify the UPSC NDA entrance exam and SSB, stating that Indian armed forces still remains a charismatic career option.
Pattaniak stated this during the XIX LBA meeting of Sainik School Punglwa held on May 22.
A defence release issued by Col C Konwer, PRO (Defence), stated that Pattanaik had expressed satisfaction over the performance of the school during two years of his chairmanship. He congratulated Cadet Sumwang Wangsa for clearing 140 NDA and for being the first cadet from the school to join NDA since the inception of the school.
In the discussion, he also emphasised on the role of teachers in providing quality education to the cadets and their contributions towards betterment of school results and making cadet a better citizen.
The chairman further insisted focussing on academics and inculcating ethics and moral values among cadets.
Capt Sharad R Keskar, school’s principal and LBA member secretary, presented various activities undertaken by the school during the last six months. The major issues included work projects undertaking in the school, steps taken to improve the academics and overall development of the cadets and future projects to be undertaken with the help of state government and ministry of defence.
During the meeting, the board members were apprised on the financial grant and the infrastructural development that are being taken up/ sanctioned.
The meeting was also attended by Brig Harsh Chhibber, 3 Corps; Pollem Tep, additional director of school education; Dr. DJ Rajkhowa, joint director of ICAR, Jharnapani; Lt. Col. M Kiran Meitei, administrative officer SSPN; Er. Kedovisie B Meyase, parents’ representative; Er. Kelechutuo Pienyu, SDO, PWD (H); Yanthungbemo Kikon, EAC Peren.
Later, the chairman interacted with Class XII cadets and motivated them.
