Mokokchung, Dec. 16 (EMN): Preparations to host Mokokchung town’s Children’s Christmas Cake Carol Competition, popularly called the ‘C5,’ are underway in the town. As the excitement and spirit of Christmas begin to permeate Nagaland too, the most awaited event for the town, and apparently the biggest carol competition in the local area, is getting dressed in all its festive frill and spice.

The event is being held since 1989, and organized by the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church’s youth department. The 30th edition of the C5 will be celebrated with much fanfare on Dec. 18 at the town’s main square. The programme will be conducted with the slogan “Behold the Star.”

An update from the youth department informs that this year’s edition has a total 50 participants from nine fellowships of the youth department who will be vying for the crown.

The church’s youth evangelist Monglier said that the event, which started with a budget of INR 50 had become bigger and better, and that it was a testament of God’s faithfulness to the youth department. More than the competition, he added, the event is a way for the youths and people of Mokokchung to come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and glorify his name.

The participants are between the ages five and 12 years.  They have been practising diligently during the past two weeks.

The members of the event’s planning committee consist of talented and passionate youths from nine Christian fellowships. They are working on the event to make it a grand success.

Children from the United Christian Fellowship and members of Youth With a Mission or YWAM too will be performing at the event during their mission trip to Mokokchung.

The committee has requested people of the town besides others visiting Mokokchung to join the C5.
