DIMAPUR, MAY 25: Employees of telecom giant, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), in Dimapur joined their counterparts across the country to launch a three-day hunger strike on Wednesday demanding withdrawal of MT recruitment and settlement of various other HR issues.

The hunger strike was initiated by the All India Graduate Engineers Telecom Officers Association (AIGETOA) and the All India BSNL Executives Association (AIBSNLEA). The strike in Dimapur for the BSNL workers commenced at their main office, located behind the Super Market, in Dimapur.

The hunger strike will be from 10 am till 6 pm. The protestors are seeking ‘work according to rules.’

A media handout provided by the aggrieved employees of the BSNL appealed to the executives to immediately implement the decisions taken on December 14, 2015. They are also asked to immediately implement the recommendation of the committee headed by MA Khan, ED (NB) on the standard E2 and E3 scales for JTO and SDE with equivalent executives and CPSU Cadre Hierarchy under the BSNL.

The appeal included a demand for extending 30% superannuation benefit for recruited employees and resolution of various other human resource issues.

The protestors are also seeking immediate conduct of various CPCs to fill various vacant groups.

The agitators across the country are also planning hunger strikes in phases dubbed ‘Delhi Chalo’ from June 1.

The executives plan to gather at the BSNL in New Delhi until the demand for the withdrawal of MT Notification and settlement of said issues.

Around 45 employees in Dimapur are on hunger strike.
