DIMAPUR, JULY 7

Employees of telecom giant, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Dimapur on Tuesday launched their 3-days hunger strike, demanding “the withdrawal of MT recruitment and settlement of pending HR issues.”
The agitation has been launched under the banner of United Forum of BSNL Executives’ Associations (UFBSNLEA), comprising of All India BSNL Executives’ Associations (AIBSNLEA) and All India Graduate Engineers and Telecom Officers Association (AIGETOA).
The striking employees informed that they would “march” to Delhi and participate in an indefinite dharna at the BSNL Corporate Office, New Delhi from July 22 onwards, if their demands are not addressed.
The demands of the agitating employees include implementations of hierarchy system in BSNL office where lateral entry of freshers at any level above JTO/JAO/equivalent should not be entertained.
Some of the protesting employees lamented that they have been kept in the same position for years while others who were of the same level gets promoted in no time.
