Brotherhood CC and Titans CC registers easy wins

Dimapur, Jan. 12: Day eight of the MDCA Inter Club T20 Cricket Tournament played at Imkongmeren Sports complex witnessed two matches on Thursday. Brotherhood CC took on Sovran Kings and Titans CC took on DC XI.
In the first match of the day Brotherhood CC after having won the toss and electing to bat first managed to put up a good total of 161 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Chubaodang top scored with 50 runs and Daniel Rai contributed 45 runs. For Sovran Kings, Lisosungkumi picked 2/ 20 in 4 overs and Sademmeren took 1/30 in 4 overs . Chasing the huge target of 162 runs, Sovran Kings could manage only 74 runs losing all their wickets in 17.5 overs and losing the match by 68 runs. Maset top scored with 34 runs and Yutsung scored 16 runs for Sovran Kings. Aosashi was the most successful bowler for Brotherhood CC and ended with a figure of 3/13 runs in 4 overs and Temsutoshi also took 3/24 in 4 overs. With this win Brotherhood who have the distinction of playing in the most number of finals as well as the club to win the most number of times (9 times) became the first team to make it to the knockout stage. Earlier, the two senior most team under MDCA, Brotherhood CC(Green) and Sovran Kings (Black) had a short service before the match and made a resolution on account of 25 years celebration reaffirming to support MDCA fully and to find opportunity for the youngster in cricketing affairs keeping as a vision for the coming 50 years celebration.
MDCA T20 Tournament
In the second match of the day, defending champion Titans CC beat DC XI by 91 runs. Batting first, Titans CCput on a big score of 174 runs for 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. It is the highest team score of the tournament so far. Akumdong scored 73 runs the highest individual score till now and Resemdong scored 31 runs. For DC XI Daniel took 2/26 in 4 overs while Meren, Noksen and Sachin chipped in with 1 wicket each. The run chase for DC XI got off to a bad start as the Titans opening bowlers send back their top order batsman early. For DC XI only Throngdi (29 runs) and Meren (13 runs) could reach double digit score and eventually were bowled out for just 84 runs in 17.2 overs. Longsasunep was the best bowler for Titans CC with 3 wickets in his name conceding only 6 runs in 4 overs. Chubamaong and Toshimeren took 2 wickets each. Titans, the defending champions thus qualified for the Quarter finals which is to be played from January 17 onwards. There is a slight change in the fixture for tomorrow’s match.
