‘Border Protection Forum’ in KA formed against ‘greater Nagalim’ move

Diphu, Dec. 16 (EMN): Community groups and ‘pro-Ulfa’ entities in Karbi Anglong of Assam have formed a common platform in opposition to the demand of the NSCN (IM) for a “greater Nagalim.”
A meeting was held here at the Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA) office organised by pro-Ulfa members and leaders of social organisations in Karbi Anglong of Assam. The meeting was called to oppose the inclusion of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao areas into the so-called “greater Nagalim” (greater Nagaland).
After discussions and speech from leaders of various organisations, resolutions were taken, including one to form a joint forum to oppose the movement of the NSCN (IM). The joint forum was named the ‘Border Protection Forum, Karbi Anglong.’
Leaders of social organisations like the KSA, KFA, UKSA and others attended the programme. There were also others like the president of the pro-ULFA members Deben Saikia and members Dilip (Saikia) Marak and Jayanta Dutta; president of the Kuki National Assemly Taugthang Touthang; general secretary of the KLNLF Thong Teron; president of the KCS Chandrasing Kro; president of the KLA Suren Kramsa; president of the KSA Bijoy Bey.
They have strongly opposed the inclusion of said two hill districts of Assam in the ‘framework agreement’ of the NSCN (IM).
A joint memorandum will be submitted by the new forum to the government of India, state government of Assam and the KAAC in regard to the matter.
Also, another resolution was that “land encroachers” along the inter-state border inside Karbi Anglong should be evicted. The matter will be discussed with the KAAC to undertake evictions to remove the “encroachers settling in forest land” from along the border, it was understood.
To discuss with Nagaland government the organisations have also resolved to take up discussions with the Nagaland government. It resolved to pressurize the central government to call the leaders of pro-ULFA leaders and KLNLF on the matter of ‘greater Nagalim.’
The Border Protection Forum of Karbi Anglong has been formed with eight convenors. They are KSA president Bijoy Bey; president of ex- ULFA Deben Saikia; president of the KSU George Timung; secretary of the KSYC Bipul Tisso; Alias Tirky; Nitin Rai; president of the Dimasa Students’ Association Dhiraj Diphusa and Lorson Indiwar.
While advisers comprises of JI Kathar, retired IAS; Kalpajyoti Neog; president, KCS Chandrasing Kro; Chairman, Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front P. Dilli; president, Karbi Lammet Amei Suren Kramsa and former DHD leader Dilip Nunisa.
