The Nagaland State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has expressed its ‘profound concern’ about creating reaction in the society aftermath ‘notice’ served by Assam Rifles (AR) to a number of local news media. While honouring the commendable contributions made by both the Assam Rifles under civic action programme, the local dailies towards the promotion of society and the importance of press freedom as envisaged in the constitution of India, the BJP Nagaland unit said in a statement. It then reminded the AR to maintain proper limitation and status quo in consistence with the constitutional provisions. “Each of the para military, the press media and the Central or State government has its role to play within well - defined written constitution and it is aware that the Constitution of India is the supreme law of the land,” the statement said.
“The contributions made by the press media by open presentation of information needs to be appreciated and honored by all including the AR as our society needs to be more open about everything and promote transparency for the people to judge. The error occurred should be rectified,” it added.
