Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): While welcoming the clean election campaigns initiated by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), Phek unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed displeasure with some religious leaders for polarising the election issues to sow seeds of doubts and hatred among the members.
The unit made reference to some of the speakers at the CBCC First Men Fellowship held from April 21-23 at CBCC Mission Centre, T Chikri, Pfutsero, who allegedly misused the church pulpit by polarising the election issue to sow seeds of doubts and hatred instead of using for soul saving and giving hope. The BJP party of Phek district felt that a church pulpit of any denomination whether big or small should be kept holy and use them for restoration of life.
BJP Phek unit president Nucutso Ruho lamented that preachers and pastors taking the BJP as anti-Christian party and politicising on different occasions was not encouraging and in the interest of the State. The party appealed to the church of different denominations to preserve and maintain the sanctity of the church pulpit.Testifying that BJP is a political party based on the concept of secularism, he said the party believes in the equality of all its citizens. Also adding that the focus and principle of the party is for development and against rampant corruption, he said the party is committed to build a society free from discrimination where everyone will be provided with equal opportunity. The party implored everyone to be part of the change and not to be convinced by the rumours and false teachings.
BJP Phek unit called upon the party workers, supporters, well wishers, believers and citizens of the state to remove the misconception and doubts from their minds and move forward along with the rest of the country for development. The party also appealed to the people to pray for the churches, leaders of all the political parties both at the state and national for goodwill to prevail.
BJP Phek looked forward for a positive criticism and participation which will contribute a new era of development. Further, BJP Phek supported the CBCC movement on the election code of conduct to impart the people with value-based politics for free and fair elections.
