Imphal, June 27 (EMN): Future of Manipur lies in the agriculture and tourism sector and the new government is committed to give extra focus on these sectors. So all the departments should invite learned persons and experts from Universities etc. and constitute a sub-committee or advisory board to work for development and broaden the area of operation of the departments stated Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh said while inaugurating day long agriculture department workshop on Tuesday, in Imphal.
It is high time to change the mindset and behaviour and execute our duties with responsibility for an inclusive development in the State, chief minister felt. Biren also informed that Manipur government will be installing biometric attendance systems in all the government departments to ensure that all government employees reach work on time.
“Biometric has been installed in the state secretariat and now the government will start installation in all the departments as well,” he added. “We need to have a systematic process and should maintain discipline besides respecting each other.
On the limited agricultural land, he said, “If we don’t preserve and protect the agricultural land, agricultural sector cannot be sustained and developed the in the State.” Few days back, all DCs have been asked to take up necessary steps for the preservation of the agricultural land for agricultural and horticultural purposes.
Agriculture minister V Hangkhalian said the state has a total agricultural area of 2.34 lakh hectares. Out of which 1.94 lakh hectares is utilised for rice cultivation. Principal Chief Conservator of forest K Angami and Vice Chancellor of Central agriculture university (CAU) Eroishemba, Imphal Dr M Premjit Singh also spoke on the occasion.
Later in the afternoon Chief Minister accompanied by concerned ministers, parliamentary secretaries and officials inaugurated ‘Court of Additional Sessions Judge’ for crimes against women at Court Complex, Lamphelpat and dedicated two mobile ambulances. Free wi fi facilities will be launch in some parts of Imphal report added.
