Dimapur, Sep. 24: Moved by the scenes of destruction in Kiphire district in the aftermath of the recent monsoon rain, the students and staff of a private school in Dimapur have decided to do their bit to help the people of Kiphire rebuild their lives.
The students and teachers of Sacred Heart School, located at Model village, 5th Mile in Dimapur, got together on September 21 to organise a ‘sales day’ at Green Park, Dimapur to raise money for the victims of the monsoon disaster in Kiphire.

The school’s administrator, Vil Tsukru said the idea behind organising such programme was for the students to understand what it was like to give back to those in need and also to encourage others to follow suit. And such experience, he said, will help the students who are in their growing stage to comprehend life better.

The school’s headmaster, Francis Thomas said the students of class 9 and 10 along with the staff had prepared food items for the ‘sales day’. “As a first time, organising and participating in such event, the response received was encouraging and some benevolent individuals contributed more than what they were supposed to,” shared Thomas.

The headmaster said with such encouraging response, the school would continue such events and extend a helping hand in future.
The amount generated from the sale was then announced on September 24 during the school’s morning assembly. The headmaster said the school would be adding some amount to the amount generated on ‘sales day’ which will be transferred to the deputy commissioner of Kiphire.
