Diphu, July 16 (EMN): The best Karbipo (men’s category) for the year 2016 was awarded to social worker Roy Enghee and the best Karbipi, (women’s category) 2016 was awarded to Kajir Helen Hansepi in the field of education during the award giving function held here at the office of Karbi Riso Adobar on Monday, July 16.
The award constitute jointly by Karbi Riso Adorbar (KRA), Karbi Students Association (KSA-Inglongpho) and Karbi So-arlo Amei (KARSA) to the men and women’s category having contribution in the Karbi society like education, culture, language and literature, games and sport, fine arts, song and music, social service, politics, securing government service, academician, journalism and health sector etc.

The best Karbipo and Karbipi award was first constituted in 2003 and this is the 14th edition.
The best Karbipi Kajir Helen Hansepi receiving the award emphasised on the need to develop own language by exercising it. Hansepi credited her parents for the achievement. She said, “Karbis has sufficient words for speaking as well as for writing, but we don’t use it. We are unable to speak a complete sentence in Karbi without adding words from other languages, but the younger learnt to speak correctly.”

With a collective effort we can only be able to promote own culture and language, she said.
KAAC, EM Tarendra Brahma also appreciated the step taken by the organisers in constituting the award to the deserving persons. He said till today even the Karbis and Bodos are lacking in proper education which needs extra care.
