Baptist College organises Literature Fest

Kohima, June 24 (EMN): Emboldened with the success of its 1st edition of ‘Literature Fest 2016,’ Department of English, Baptist College Kohima, has organised its second edition of ‘BCK Literature Fest’ at the college premises, Mission Compound today. The programme was organised in collaboration with Crossword, Barkweaver and Artworks, Nagaland.
HoD, English Department of Baptist College, Dr. Vizovono Elizabeth said the Literature Fest has been organised with the intention of providing a platform for the students to express themselves creatively, which she observed, was missing in the academic curriculum.
The event began with a word of prayer offered by Dr. Tsenbeni Kennao, which also featured renowned author and poet Easterine Kire and Nini Lungalang through storytelling and poetry reading.
Students of third semester, English department, presented a poetry recitation and ‘spoken words’ by The Four Felons.
The day-long programme also saw various activities like competitions, open mic poetry, treasure hunt, book exchange, book fair and crafts stalls, music and poetry and art gallery. Special musical presentation was presented by the Musicians’ Studio and a Seyievinuo. The fest saw enthusiastic participation of the students of Baptist College and other colleges.
Meanwhile, Zawe, Wulo Akami and Mhademo P Shitiri were adjudged as first, second and third of the sketching competition.
Suli Kiba from BCK; Rongsen Imsong from Royak School of Architecture, Guwahati; and Kevisa Vivose from St Joseph’s College; were declared as winners of the poetry competition, while Pfükruneinuo from Baptist College, Sechü campus; Pewe-u Tunyi from St Joseph’s College, Jakhama; and Virzonu from BCK; emerged as winners of the story writing.
