Dimapur, May 23 (EMN): Basing on intelligent inputs regarding smuggling of banned drugs, a team under the command of OC Longkhim Police station was dispatched near New Sangsomong area on May 21.
Around 18:00 hours, the suspected vehicle (Mahindra Scorpio) bearing registration No. AS01MA-497S was intercepted. Upon searching the vehicle, an approximate 43000 capsules of banned Spasmo Proxyvon (SP) belonging to one Limanungla @ Atoi Zeliang @ Akhala, wife of late Bochukai of Tamenglong in Manipur was recovered. The drugs were neatly packed in different compartments such as under the seats, inside the speakers and inside the spare tyre, a DIPR report said. Driver of the vehicle identified as Bendangtoshi Sangtam of Alisopur village along with Atula @ Atu, daughter of the owner of the consignment, were arrested and also seized the vehicle.
The consignment was supposed to be delivered to some un-identified female person at Petrol Pump, Tuensang, on the same day. Case in this regard has been registered and investigation is on to identify all those involved in the illegal trade.
