Dimapur, August 23 (EMN) : The Angami Youth Organisation has today taken a strong stand against the various forms of threats and intimidations to individuals including firing live bullets at a hotel recently in Kohima on the backdrop of the political turmoil brought about by the split in the NPF party.
“The Angami Youth Organization has no interest or business in the present political impasse within the NPF for which we have distanced ourselves thus far. However, out of this situation, an alarming rate at which many unwarranted and ugly scenario of law and order situation has been encountered on numerous occasions putting public peace and welfare at stake. Our concern is public security, protection of life and properties. As such, we have no option but to unequivocally condemn the act of cowardice, hooliganism and goons prowling around perpetrating fear psychosis, intimidation and threats by certain anti social elements,” stated the press release from the organisation.
Recounting the spats of incidents where threats were issued to some government officials and also the firing incident at hotel Vivor, the president Neinguvoto Krose stated that, ” it will be easy to rein in these gangsters” once it starts its effort to nab them.
“We warn these miscreants once and for all to refrain from such diabolical acts to avoid public wrath”.
The apex youth organisation of the Angami tribe also appealed to the enforcing agencies to immediately book the “thugs” under appropriate sections of law.
The organisation further informed that should be considered as the “final warning” to those indulging in such activities and informed that it will be convening the presidential council meeting at the earliest in case of any eventuality and that all the Angami village unit Presidents and executive members to be prepared.
