Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has expressed approval of the “quick steps taken by the government in constructing the roads in the capital city of Nagaland.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, the organisation said that it was seeing “quality change of roads” for the first time in Kohima covering almost every corner of the city. “Far from the muddy and dusty face of the capital, it has taken a city akin to be called a city it deserves. We feel this pace should be covered all over Nagaland.”

It also commended the contractors involved in the works. “At the same time, we also urge the government to monitor and advise the contractors to maintain their areas of construction according to the specified guaranteed period. We also appeal to all citizens of Kohima to responsibly utilise the facilities made available to our city.

“Some areas of concerns are irresponsible parking, throwing out waste in running cars—in this case, drivers of both public and private transport are advised to use car bin to dispose their waste inside the car and later dump it at the appropriately designated place. In addition to this, it is improper to block the roads with building materials, releasing septic tanks without proper procedures, dumping waste in the rivulets etc.,” it stated.

The youth organisation also lauded citizens for their cooperation and support to the cleanup initiatives at Sanuorü and Dzüvürü rivers.
“This spirit of Kohima citizens’ consciousness and conscience is truly inspiring. It must not stop. We trust that Kohima will unite and create a new Kohima city not just in infrastructural development but more so of smart people.”
