Authorities review security situation in Kohima

A meeting on the security situation in Kohima town was held under the aegis of Maj Gen MS Jaswal, IGAR (North) on November 17 ahead of the Hornbill festival.
The meeting was attended by deputy commissioner of Kohima Rovilatuo Mor, GBs and chairmen of villages in Kohima, presidents of important nongovernmental organizations including youth organizations.Maj Gen MS Jaswal stressed on the importance of Assam Rifles’ and civilian organizations ‘joining hands to keep the environment peaceful for conduct of the festival.’ In the meeting the deputy commissioner Mor also stressed upon the village authorities to extend their support to security forces and the police by sharing information of any activity that might hamper the security situation during the festive season.
Officials of the civil administration were also requested to inform the security forces about any members of the underground faction groups moving in and around the town, especially the NSCN (K). The meeting was also platform for civilians from various walks of life to come together and share their feelings about the situation in the state.
