Dimapur, Feb. 19: Union Minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale launched the Republican Party of India (Athawale) on Tuesday at the Agri Expo site in Dimapur, in the presence of party members of the state.

Athawale, who also leads the RPI (A), assured that the proposed Kohima airport project ‘will definitely’ be sanctioned. He has given this assurance to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio because Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ‘genuine concern’ for the Naga people, Athawale said.

“As soon as I reach Delhi, I will contact Prime Minister Modi and apprise him of the Kohima airport proposal,” he said. Also, he expressed confidence that the road projects will ‘definitely complete soon. ‘

Atahwale suggested Rio and his ministers to visit Mumbai ‘so that there is prospect for companies and factories to start business in Nagaland.’

“RPI (A) is the best party and an important party who supports the poor, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, minorities and OBC and also supports the Indian constitution which is the best constitution in the world,” Athawale maintained.

He introduced Mughato Aye as the party’s state president and Diana Swu as the women president.
