Kohima, March 22 (EMN): The 28th Angami Students’ Union (ASU) biennial general conference 2019 themed “Aspiring dynamics” got underway at Piphema in Kohima district on March 22. Menukhol John, Principal Secretary, School Education, was the introductory speaker of the programme.

Stressing on the importance of having a clear-cut vision in life, John urged the students to work hard in order to achieve their goal. When it comes to realising one’s goal, the officer said that “we get too theoretical,” and tend to “lack consistency” in our approach; and it all comes down to one’s decision.

He encouraged the students to put “God first” in everything they do and described them as the backbone of tomorrow’s society. He also acknowledged the host village for providing a platform to the students and expressed confidence that they (students) will extract the best from the conference and contribute in the society.

Rovilato Mor, commissioner secretary of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) spoke on the roles and responsibilities of the authority besides the significance of creating awareness about NSDMA in the state.

The introductory session was chaired by ASU vice president Petekhrietuo Kiewhuo, while Chakhroma Students’ Union president delivered the welcome address and PKKK president Zhato Kimho shared the greetings. ASU general secretary Vizokho Zashümo also presented secretary report for the year 2017-2019 on the occasion.

Hundreds of delegates from four range — Northern Angami Students’ Union (NASU), Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU), Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) and Chajhroma Students’ Union (CSU) – participated in the conference.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will grace the occasion as the inaugural speaker on March 23 at 10 am.
