Assam Rifles Organises Free Health Care& Medical Camp

DIMAPUR, JULY 30: 12 BIHAR Regiment of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a free health care medical camp at Maibam, Nambol area, Bishnupur district of Manipur state on 28 July 2016, with an aim to create greater understanding about modern life style diseases, seasonal diseases and fitness in the area. More than 150 people of different age groups were benefited from the camp.
Visitors were examined by doctor and medical staff from 12 BIHAR Regimentand werecounselled upon seasonal and skin diseases. Doctor also offered one-on-one consultations, nutritional and dietary counselling to the visitors.During the camp the villagers were also made aware about various diseases like Malaria, Dengue and latest spread of Japanese Encephalitis etc and were educated by the medical team on effective ways to combat the diseases. Free medicines and vitamin tablets were also distributed during the camp.

The health camp initiative is yet another example of the Assam Riflesendeavor to play an active and meaningful role in the community. Such camps have a tremendous impact on the lives of the patients where the diagnosis and nutritional advice given by doctors help them in pursuing a healthy life style.The effort made by the Assam Rifles was highly appreciated by the villagers and other personalities present during the event.
Assam Rifles saves Snake Bite Victims
The medical team of 12 BIHAR Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Riflesunder the aegis of HQIGAR (South) saved the precious life of a snake bite victim.The victim named Rakesh, aged, 30 years, Village – Awangkhunou, District – Imphal west was bitten by a snake and was brought to the medical inspection room of 12 BIHAR in critical condition. The victim was readily attended by the medical team and necessary first aid and anti snake bite venom injections were administered, this saved the life of the individual.
In a similar endeavour, medical team of 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) saved the life of another snake bite victim on July 30. The victim named SmtLeitanthemPremela, aged 40 years, W/o L Dinesh, resident of Athokpam,ThoubalDist was bitten by a snake while farming and was immediately rushed to the unit hospital of 2 Assam Rifles. The victim was readily attended by the medical team and necessary first aid was administered. Later the victim was referred to District hospital, Thoubal for further management.
