Assam Rifles emerges runners-up in All India Police Archery C’ship

Dimapur, Jan. 21 (EMN): The Assam Rifles emerged as runners-up in the 7th All India Police Archery Championship that was held at Ranchi, Jharkhand from Jan. 15-19.

A total of 22 teams from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police Forces participated in the competition stated an update received here on Monday.

The Assam Rifles archery team comprising of 12 men and six women took part in the Indian, recurve and compound events. The team secured overall second position and received trophy for runners-up in men’s and second runners-up in women’s category.

A total of eight gold, four silver, and three bronze medals were won by the archers. This is the first time that Assam Rifles achieved a podium finish in this event and narrowly missed the winner’s trophy even though they had the same tally in gold and silver medals as the winner team (BSF). The men’s team won gold medal and the mixed team of RfnZhokhoto Demo and MahilaRfn SP Lidiya won silver medal, both in the Indian round.

Apart from the medals won by the archers in the team event individual medals were also won wherein Rfn G Robert Singh won individual two gold, one Silver, and one bronze in Ccompound round. Rfn Demo won individual two gold, one silver and one bronze in Indian round, Rfn N Subhachandra Meetei won an individual silver in recurve round; Rfn P Heroba Singh won one bronze in Indian round and Mahila Rfn Lidiya won three gold in Indian round.
