Assam Rifles and NSDC sign MoU

Dimapur, Dec. 9 (EMN): In an impressive ceremony held at the HQ of the DGAR atLaitkor in Shillong on Dec. 9, an MoU was signed between the Assam Rifles and the National Skills Development Commission (NSDC), updates stated on Saturday.
The ceremony was informed to have been held in the presence of minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan and presided over by the Lt. Gen. Shokin Chauhan, director general of the Assam Rifles.
Senior officials from the Assam Rifles and the ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the NSDC were present during the ceremony as well.
The release mentions that the MoU will pave way for retiring Assam Rifles personnel towards a second career based on prior learning and experience. Approximately 1200 personnel who retired annually from Assam Rifles stand to gain from this MoU, stated the release.
Dharmendra Pradhan also laid a wreath at the Assam Rifles War Memorial and paid homage to the Martyrs.
The minister during his speech highlighted the fact that retired Assam Rifles personnel are a pool of highly disciplined and skilled individuals and stressed on the important of tapping into this resource.
The release further mentions that the minister promised to setup a mechanism to improve the supply of fuel and petroleum products to meet the needs of the force which is deployed in far flung corners of Northeast.
