ASA Wrestling Meet from February 11 at Khuochiezie

The Angami Sports Association (ASA) 44th meet (Wrestling) is all set to begin from February 11 to 12 at Kohima Local Ground.
Wrestlers from the four Angami regions including Southern, Northern, Western and Chakhroma, will compete in Naga wrestling and freestyle wrestling during the two-day meet. A total of 72 wrestlers will take part in Naga wrestling, while the freestyle wrestling will be competed in category-wise for both senior and cadet/junior.
The inaugural function would be graced by Chotisuh Sazo, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, while Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, chairman, Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. will be the guest of honour for the closing function.
The champion in Naga wrestling will fetch a cash award of Rs. 1,40,000, sponsored by ASA, while the 1st runner-up will receive Rs. 1,00,000, sponsored by T.M. Seletsu, Class-1 Contractor, NPWD.
The third and fourth position winners win Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 50,000, sponsored by Er. Krosü Rhetso, Additional Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) and Er K. Miachieo, Chief Engineer, Power Department respectively.
The four other quarterfinalists will also receive Rs. 10,000 each, sponsored by Petevilie Khatsü, Assistant Director, Urban Development and Er Ketouzo Peseyie, Executive Engineer, Urban Development. There will also be a separate award for the ‘Best Tactic Wrestler’ for Naga style, sponsored by Beizo Suokhrie, Assistant Conservator of Forest & DDO PCCF & HOFF Office.
For senior freestyle, the top two winners will be given Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively and the top two winners in cadet category will win Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 4,000 each.
The jury board members for the two-day meet are Peteroko Zetsuvi (Convenor), Rükhietuolie Liezietsu, Viliehu Nguzhü, Toba Khatso and Visakhoto Krose (ASA wrestling secretary), while the announcers are Vilakuolie Mere, Kedozo Yhokha, Neidilhoutuo Sechü and Visasielie Suohu (ASA).
The referees for Naga wrestling are Zehoto Kikhi, Kezhalelie Keretsü, Visakholie Chüsi and Neingulie Nagi, while the second referees are Pekruneito Krose, Rokokhotso Rino, Videho Kintso and Petevituo Lhoungu.
The field judges are Viliemeto Kehie, Razouneio Kerhüo, Visakrol Vitsu, Vineisa Nagi, Kevicalie Kehie and Neichüpi Sote, while the time keepers are Sithie Mere, Neikeselie Punyü, Asekho Talie and Khoto Ngukha. The recorders are Kelhousilie Zumu, Bikho Zhünyü, Sitso Terhüja and Tsilie Zashümo. Thepfukhao Chüpuo has been entrusted as the incharge for runners.
The freestyle wrestling would be conducted by the department of Sports and Youth Resources.
Meanwhile, ASA has informed all tournament officials to be present for a meeting on February 10 at 3 pm at Kohima Local Ground. It further informed that an entry fee of Rs. 10,000 would be collected from every unit. The respective units are also requested to submit two flags measuring 4X6 on February 10. The weight measurement for freestyle wrestlers would be done on February 10 at 3 pm at the tournament venue.
