Arunachal Hornbill’s Flight International Race to kick-start today

Dimapur, Nov. 14 (EMN): After the success of the first edition of Dalmia MTB Arunachal held last year, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited is all set for the second edition of the Dalmia MTB Arunachal Hornbill’s Flight International Race 2018. The race starts from Itanagar on Nov. 15 and will end at Mechuka on Nov. 22.

This year, well-known international cyclists like Ilda from Portugal, Celia from Canada, Sarah, Heidi and Lauri from the USA, Andrew Seawald, Thomas Bush, Sarah, Frank and Holger from Germany, Catherine from UK, the Indian teams from the Army, SSB, Navy, Hero Action Team, Nepal Army and APF Teams, Bhutan Royal Army Team and others will participate and make the event extremely competitive and exciting, stated an update received here on Wednesday.

There will be 75 participants from India for this edition of the race. The race will be followed by an adventure festival at Mechuka for three days, from Nov. 23-25.

The race is claimed to be the toughest race in the world with an elevation gain of 1,12,000 feet. It covers about 650 Kms in eight days starting from Itanagar to Mechuka along the Indo-China border. The race is divided into eight categories: Open men solo, open women solo, team of two, student, master’s 40+, best Arunachal rider, best para rider, promising rider with a total prize money of INR 22,50,000 which will be awarded to the winners.

Bollywood star Salman Khan is also expected to be present for the finale of the race.
