ARTC&S conducts debate on human rights

Dimapur, July 14 (EMN): Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Shokhuvi, organised an inter-battalion debate competition on human rights on July 13 with the participation of No. 1 Training Battalion, No. 2 Training Battalion, No. 3 Training Battalion, Lushai Coy and Diphu Garrison of ARTC & School.
Brig. Gurjap Singh, Commandant ARTC & School was the chief guest of the programme.
Debating on the topic “Security forces observing human rights are better equipped to meet challenges to national security,” a total of 20 speakers took part in Hindi and English ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion.
The main aim of the debate was to sensitise the troops about human rights and importance of their strict observance while dealing with the public and also to select a team for AR Inter-Sector debate competition scheduled on July 25 and 26. In Hindi, Rifleman Umesh Kumar Yadav and Rifleman Balwan Singh of No. 2 Training Battalion were adjudged the best speakers ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion respectively, while Recruit Sanjay Saini of No. 1 Training Battalion and Recruit Sadhana of Lushai Coy were declared the runners up. In English, Recruit B Choudhary of No. 3 Traning Battalion and Recruit Vaibhav Patil of No. 3 Training Battalion were adjudged the best speakers ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion respectively, while Recruit Milon Chakma of No. 2 Training Battalion and Recruit Hari S Das of No. 2 Training Battalion were declared the runners up. The team of No. 2 Training Battalion was adjudged the best team and was awarded the Championship Trophy by the chief guest.
