Are We Heading in the Right Direction?

Development is more talked than seen in our state. Where does the money pumped in leaks out? There is little development seen, especially in remote areas. Talks are in progress and the long wait for a solution seems the closest ever towards success.

At this critical juncture the vicious cycle of violence has raised its head once again and claimed life of fellow Naga from Konyak tribe. The recent attack in Mon dist has shaken the peace prevailing in the state. The preachers of violence have their vested interests to recreate the barbaric rule of the gun. The peaceful atmosphere is seen as a hindrance by the reckless perpetrators of violence. Is this the fight for the so called cause? Let us condemn these acts of jeopardizing our peaceful Nagaland. Time has come when we need to make our stand crystal clear, shun the gun and fight it out in the negotiations table. Acts of violence should not be tolerated in our peaceful, civilized society striving to attain a new order of peace and development.

Let us dedicate our energy, resources and focus on developing our homeland. Development in our state is in certain pockets whereas the remote areas remain untouched and out of reach. What we need is the wholehearted support of all to build roads, bridges, equip schools, provide electricity and medical care for those forgotten people. Let us not get swayed by a few hypocrites who are claiming to be fighting for the National Cause. Brethren, awake and arise to make this clarion call to unmask the masqueraders of violence. It is time to be firm and pragmatic and take the reins of the horse in our own hands and create and steer our destiny rather than leave it to a few. Be sensible, and let Nagaland travel on the path of sustainable development, leaving the gun culture behind. Infrastructure development, job creation, self sustained agricultural production and cottage and small scale industries are the buzz words to a better tomorrow. Let us pledge not to deviate from the path of developmentĀ  and progress which will make our land and our people flourish and realise our true potential.
