Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): Troops of 5 Jammu & Kashmir Rifles (Tulihal Battalion) of 9 Sector Assam Rifles along with Bishnupur police commandos conducted a major search operation in Pat area of Ishok village in Bishnupur District, Manipur, over a period of two days to successfully recover a huge cache of automatic weapons.
A closely followed and validated input over a period of three months resulted in locating the weapon cache, Assam Rilfes stated in a press release on Tuesday. It stated that in a two-day long operation, which started on April 8, the combined team of 5 Jammu & Kashmir Rifles along with Bishnupur commandos recovered a massive haul of nine weapons which included three M-16 rifles, five AK-56 rifles, one A4 Rifle and one M 203 UBGL.
It had attributed the success to the continued hard work and determined efforts made by the Assam Rifles to curb the insurgent activities prevailing in the Imphal valley with the aim to bring peace to the state of Manipur. The operation was considered as one of the most successful operation in the state in recent times.
