AR continues with civic action programmes across State

Dimapur, August 20 (EMN): Troops of 3 (NH) Battalion Assam Rifles has organised a ‘Talent hunt competition’ at Kohima Garrison on August 13 with the participation of 40 students from Don Bosco School, St Mary’s High School, Dainty Buds School and Assam Rifles Public School.
The competitions included singing, dancing, mimicry and play with the theme based on Independence Day. Assam Rifles press release stated that students had displayed exceptional talent in dancing and singing.
Prizes were given to the winners and concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
In a separate programme, troops of 15 Assam Rifles screened a documentary movie on drug abuse at Holy Angel’s School, Noklak, on August 18. The main motive behind screening of the movie was to create awareness on the ill effects of drug abuse and health related issues.
Altogether, 915 students and 15 teachers witnessed the movie. Pamphlets containing ill effects and measures to be adopted against drug addiction were also distributed among the school children and teachers.
In a similar programme, troops of 15 Assam Rifles organised a lecture on drugs free Nagaland at St Xavier School, Shamatore on August 18.
The aim of the camp was to impart knowledge about narcotics, drugs, tobacco, its addiction and negative impact on physical and mental health. Altogether 250 students and 09 teachers attended the programme.
In a similar programme, 32 Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on ‘HIV/ AIDS’ at Government Middle School, Indisen village, Dimapur, on August 19. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about HIV/ AIDS amongst the youth. The lecture focused on the causes, symptoms and preventive measures followed by an interaction with students. The lecture was attended by a total of 30 students.
In yet another programme, troops of 41 Assam Rifles organised a blood donation camp at Ghaspani on August 16.
The camp was conducted in conjunction with Civil Hospital, Dimapur, under Dr. Temsu and team of nine medical staff. A total of 32 units of blood were donated by troops of Assam Rifles.
Troops of 9 Assam Rifles has also organised an interaction with village GBs and youth members of Chakhabama, Dihoma, Rusoma, Rukhroma, Kezo town, Kezo Basa, RD Block, Kikruma, Kezoma, and Kidima villages under Kezocha sub-division on August 19.
The programme focused on liaison between the locals and security forces about the development, health, education and youth related issues to enhance growth, prosperity peace and harmony in Chakabama region.
Assam Rifles has assured all possible help to the villager and urged them to approach them without any hesitation.
