AR continue with civic action programmes

Dimapur, Jan. 15 (EMN): Continuing with its civic action programmes, Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) has organised various programmes across the state.

In one such programme, Chieswema battalion conducted a free medical camp on December 18 at Chiephobozou village under Kohima district. A statement from the Assam Rifles informed that the medical camp was conducted by a medical team comprising of two doctors and four medical staff led by the chief medical officer.

It stated that 207 patients were examined and treated during the camp.

In another programme, Mokokchung battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on HIV and AIDS at Tuli town under in Mokokchung on January 10.

According to a statement, the aim of the lecture was to create public awareness about HIV and AIDS and its preventive measures. The note mentioned that 23 students, including a teacher from View Valley Academy School, Tuli, attended the lecture.

Chieswema battalion and Shamatore battalion of Assam Rifles also conducted a free medical camp at Thetsumi village in Phek district and Nokhu village in Tuensang district on January 8 and 9 respectively.

According to a statement, the medical camp was held to provide free medical treatment to the local residents of remote areas devoid of requisite medical facilities. A medical team examined 201 patients at Thesumi village, and 268 patients at Nokhu village. Basic awareness on health education, including precaution from common viral diseases was also imparted.

IN yet another programme, Shamatore battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a friendly football match at COB Noklak in Tuensang district on January 10 between Assam Rifles troops and Youth Club, Noklak.

A statement mentioned that the match was organised to extend opportunity to the local youth to exhibit their talents in sports and to impart the importance of discipline through the medium of sports.

A lecture on preventive measures on HIV and AIDS was also conducted at COB C’ Saddle. The basic objective of the event was to provide general awareness about the ill effects of HIV and AIDS and its preventive measures.

Tuensang battalion of Assam Rifles also organised a career counselling lecture at Angjangyang village in Mon district on January 12. During the lecture, the life and achievements of Swami Vivekananda and his contribution to society was highlighted. The lecture was attended by 20 youth including the village guards.

Continuing with its programme, Zunheboto battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Kulhopu and Yehimi villages in Zunheboto district on January 9 and 10 respectively. The camp was organised with an aim to provide medical assistance to the residents of Kulhopu and Yehimi as well as the adjoining villages. Altogether, 147 patients were treated at Kulhopu, while 174 patients were treated at Yehimi.
